South Irvine
Water Polo Club
has merged
with Irvine Water Polo Club.
The coaching staff of John Wright
(current Santa Ana College Aquatics Director and
Water Polo & Swimming Coach, former USA Jr Women’s Coach),
Joe Billish (Current Santa Ana College
Water Polo & Swimming Coach and former LBCC & GWC coach &
National Team member), will remain with the club as will
Robin Beauregard (2000 & 2004 USA Olympic Team
member).
The home pool for the Irvine WPC is the William
Woollett Aquatic Center at Heritage Park in Irvine. The Aquatic
Center is located at 4601 Walnut Avenue, Irvine, CA 92604

South Irvine Water Polo Club was originally
started in 1983 by John Wright as the Golden West WPC and was
based out of Golden West College beginning in 1983. The club
branched out to UCI with their women’s program beginning in 2002
to accommodate it’s participant base with several from south
Orange County and the inland Empire. The Golden West College
facility was down for renovations for the next year and a half.
This is a great move for our club and our current members as
well as the local community.
Irvine Water Polo Club is headed up by
Nick Baba, a former National Team Player and
current NCAA level referee. John and Nick will be working
together in heading up the coaching of the club.
We are very excited about this move
to the best aquatics facility in
all of Orange County.
